Lives and works in Columbus, Ohio.
Sculptor. Interdisciplinary Artist.
Alicia Cook is a multidisciplinary artist based in Columbus, working towards her BFA in Sculpture at The Ohio State University. Drawing from personal experiences and social politics, their practice spans endurance, sculpture, and photography, often incorporating found materials and organic elements.
Central to Alicia’s work are endurance-based practices to situate her body within structures typically used to study or control animal life, allowing them to question how humans construct categories of subject and specimen. Across the media, Alicia’s work investigates how humans both participate in and are shaped by systems of surveillance. Through accumulation and sustained engagement, she explores what it means to treat time itself as a medium for understanding the line between human and animal experience.
